Sandwich Panels

ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS

The following atmospheric conditions are the most important when installing sandwich panels:

  • Due to their low self-weight, installation does not have to be done if the wind speed is above 9m/s.
  • The panels do not need to be installed when there is snow and rain or in dense fog conditions.
  • Assembly work should be stopped when visibility is reduced at the end of the day and there is no special artificial lighting at the work site.
  • You must install the inner lining of the panel at temperatures above 4°C.

ASSEMBLY

In order to prevent damage to high-quality panels, they must be handled carefully. It is recommended that you use clean gloves.

The edges of the panels have a roughness v due to their cutting, so the paint can peel off to the zinc coating when the panels are slid lengthwise. In any place, where the integrity of the color is damaged, the sheet metal begins to corrode faster and the life of the panel is significantly shortened.

Do not suddenly pull the panels out of the package as shown in the diagram below! Pulling and pushing the panel can cause scratches. Grasp both sides and lift by pushing in a transverse direction!

When removing a single panel from a package and hand-carrying it around the job site, be sure to avoid any tilting, bending, or concentrated stress. The panels must be transported vertically.

Make sure that all packages, which have already been opened, are protected from possible damage caused by atmospheric conditions (storms, precipitation, etc.).

Workers' steps can also cause scratches. It is important that the soles of the shoe or boot do not retain small stones, sawdust, etc.

When the panels are installed, cutting may be required on site. In such cases, you must consider the following:

  • When cutting, each panel must be well measured, and the cutting lines must be marked beforehand. The lines should be clear, avoiding complicated forms.
  • When cutting, the panels must be in a horizontal position and securely attached to the work surface or to a support with a soft surface (wooden pallets, styrofoam, etc.)
  • Openings made in the roof or wall panels before assembly weaken their cross-section, so appropriate measures should be taken during assembly to strengthen these parts.
  • Cutting the roof panels after their assembly is possible only after checking the safety of the assembly, in order to prevent the panels from moving during cutting.
  • If the thickness of the panel is too high and the cutting of two metal surfaces of the panel cannot be done at the same time, the cutting line must be accurately drawn on both sides of the panel, so that the cutting is done in two stages.
  • During assembly, chips/sawdust are often formed as a result of cutting or when winding self-tapping screws. If they are not immediately removed from the panel surface, they will corrode and cause rust stains, which is undesirable especially if the color is light. Too often this staining is a prerequisite for damaging the panels and their aesthetic appearance. All sawdust must be immediately removed from the panel surface.
  • The cutting tool must ensure clean and easy cutting, without damaging the surface of the panel. Narrow band saws are suitable. Circular saws can only be used if they guarantee accurate and correct cutting. Angle grinders equipped with cutters are not suitable (burning of the cut and surface rust).
